                                    Interpretive Planning

You have stories to tell, and we can help you envision the best ways to tell them.  Interpretive planning is an area in which we have a great deal of experience.

An effective visitor experience begins with a clear understanding of the key stories that inform your site or institution.  We work closely with you to understand those stories, and can help you determine the most compelling ways to tell them, whether through artifacts, exhibitry, re-enactment, performance, or an online experience.

The first home of John James Audubon in America
We produced an interpretive plan for the John James Audubon Center at Mill Grove in Audubon, PA.  The planning process included interactive meetings with site staff, stakeholders and educators to identify key interpretive themes.  View project page

                                    An artifact display at Wyck
We wrote an interpretive plan for Wyck that departed from the traditional historic house model.  The groundwork for this included surveying best practices, and conducting interactive workshops with staff, outside advisers, community focus groups and board members.  Together we identified key interpretive themes, and recommended a new tour strategy for the site.  View project page

They accommodated a lot of nontraditional and continually evolving components of our project and successfully facilitated conversations about it with diverse groups of stakeholders.

We worked with five 20th-century African American heritage sites in Philadelphia to develop an interpretive strategy for collaboration on programming, audience outreach and marketing.  View project page

Draft panel design for the Franklin Museum, with rooms based on character traits
We developed an interpretive plan for the forthcoming Benjamin Franklin Museum at Franklin Court.  The plan serves as the basis for the permanent exhibition on Franklin's life and legacy.  View project page
